Green Standards wins 3rd REmmy Award at CoreNet Gala

TORONTO (Nov 19, 2019) Green Standards is thrilled to accept our 3rd REmmy Award in the last 4 years at the 2019 REmmy Awards Gala. Held at the Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, CoreNet Global’s Canadian Chapter recognizes Green Standards with the CSR Leadership Award – exemplified through our work with multiple corporate partners for the positive social and environmental impact of these projects.

At the annual gala, nearly 300 corporate real estate and workplace professionals gathered for the evening to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2019 REmmy Award finalists and winners

Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership

Green Standards’ CSR Leadership Award

By developing a niche service offering, Green Standards has disrupted the corporate real estate industry, challenging the conventional approach to end-of-life management for surplus furniture, fixtures and equipment on major capital projects.

Green Standards engineered an innovative, turnkey process for the sustainable decommission of FF&E from its clients’ corporate offices that considers not just the bottom line, but also the client’s commitment to both environmental sustainability and enhancing quality of life in the communities in which they operate.

Sponsored by Knoll, the CSR Leadership Award is new to the REmmy Awards program, replacing the coveted Corporate Citizen Award that Green Standards have received twice before. The final category awarded at the gala was presented by Judy Fancy, the National Director of Business Development at Knoll Inc, pictured below. The award was humbly received by Trevor Langdon and Jonathan Milnes on behalf of Green Standards and joined by Kevin Bryan and Lee Bremer who also contributed to the success of these projects.

Green Standards won our first REmmy Award in 2016 for the outstanding results on our nationwide project with TELUS, generating in-kind donations of $223,000 to more than 30 community organizations.  Last year, Green Standards and OMERS won the Corporate Citizen Award for the redistribution of 492 tons of surplus furnishings across 3 buildings, supporting 18 Toronto based non-profits with in-kind donations.

The REmmy Award competition is a Canadian Chapter program that recognizes and honours leadership excellence, innovation, and sustainable design and social responsibility in corporate real estate and workplace management. Members and industry colleagues nominate deserving organizations and projects for recognition.

Our sustainable office decommission solution results:

Green Standards team of environmental stewards lead the sustainable decommissions of 10 million square feet of office space annually, reducing CO2e by more than 172,000 tonnes on corporate real estate projects.

In our most impactful year to date, 2018 saw Green Standards divert more than 10,000 tons of office furniture and equipment from landfill while making in-kind donations worth more than $4.6M to more than 1,000 non-profits in Canada and the US.

In 2019, Green Standards is trending to meet last year’s tons diverted totals and are on track to surpass 2018 milestones in a number of measurable categories.  During the submitted time period from January – August GSL had diverted 5,135 tons of furniture and equipment from landfill with a 99% landfill diversion rate, reducing CO2e emissions by 12,384 tonnes. In the first half of the year, 438 non-profit beneficiaries had received furniture donations worth more than $1.4M cumulatively.
