Spotlight: Toronto Middle School Improves Classrooms

During Earth Month, we wanted to feature C.R. Marchant Middle School in Toronto, who used furniture donations from Green Standards to improve their learning spaces and classrooms. By donating office furniture, equipment and supplies to local schools we are not only keeping these bulky items out of the landfill, but we are supporting a circular economy that extends the lifecycle of these products, keeping them in use for community organizations that need them most.

C.R. Marchant Middle School is an inner-city school located at Lawrence and Weston Road, and was one of the first middle schools in Ontario. They were recipients of a donation from a sustainable decommission facilitated by Green Standards, which allowed them to reallocate resources to purchase technology for virtual learning during the pandemic.

When the pandemic hit, we opted to direct our resources to purchase technology for our students so that they could learn virtually when needed.  This meant that we did not have funds to pay for other resources. Your donation was greatly appreciated and has served our students well.  Our teachers use the mobile carts every day along with the white boards and flip charts to do their daily lessons.  Our students use the coat hangers and cabinets to safely house their belongings.  Thank you for your generous contributions to our school.
